The World’s First Compostable Water Bottle

BIOTA has created the first bottled water packaged from a 100% biodegradable renewable resource. Now get this, the renewable resource is CORN! The bottles are completely compostable and will degrade in about 80 days (a video is supplied here) versus the traditional bottle which will never biodegrade.

The water itself comes from an underground spring from one of the highest natural alpine springs in the world found in Ouray, Colorado. The bottle is made from a new plastic resin created from corn which is made from breaking down the starches found in corn into natural sugars and then using NatureWork’s patented process to create a new plastic called Plastic Polyactide (PLA). The bottle has been approved by the FDA but don’t try to eat the bottle…it’s considered plastic.
