Just in time for summer. The solar powered patio umbrella is a simple but at the same time an ingenious invention. A solar panel attaches at the finial (top) of the umbrella. The energy the panel collects is used to power 18 white LED lights on the outside of the umbrella. The lights are situated 3 to a rib. The ribs are the metal or wood bones of the umbrella frame that the fabric is spread over. In addition to the LED lights on the outside of the umbrella there is a center hub light inside the umbrella which has 8 more LED lights. Direct sun light charges the solar panel. Fully charged it provides 6-8 hours of light. Both the LED lights and the batteries inside the solar panel are replaceable.
